National Waffle Day

There’s no uncertainty about it, Americans love waffles. The sweet, crisp favorite is a beloved staple on breakfast tables all across the country. Whether you top them with fruit, syrup, butter, chocolate chips, whipped cream, ice cream, or fried chicken, waffles are sure to fill you up and satisfy your sweet tooth. Want to celebrate National Waffle Day with some delicious, homemade waffles? Here are some tips to help you iron out any issues with making them from scratch: 1. Don’t Over Mix- Stir all your ingredients until they’re just combined. Too much mixing will make for chewy, dense waffles. 2. Let the Batter Rest- This will allow any gluten formed in the mixing process to relax so your waffles will be tender and fluffy. 3. Grease the Iron Before You Heat It- Don’t strike while the iron is hot. You risk getting finger burns or cooking spray flare ups. 4. Preheat the Oven- Before you start making your waffles turn your oven on to about 200°F. Place cooked waffles in the oven on a cookie sheet to keep them warm and crisp while you make more. 5. Separate Your Eggs- Mix the yolks into the batter as directed but save the whites for later. Whip them to soft peaks then gently fold them into the batter. This will make your waffles ethereally light and crispy. Getting hungry?
