Are You Ready for Some Football?

While it’s hard for some to believe that football season is upon us, die-hard fans have been waiting for months for the return of college and NFL favorites. The first official game of the NFL season is tonight (which I’m certain all Ravens and Broncos fans already know). And Monday Night Football starts next week, with the Eagles meeting the Redskins, and the Texans facing off against the Chargers. In honor of that Monday-night tradition, we’ve created a simple slow-cooker menu, with a Two-Bean Turkey Chili (omit the turkey if you’re keeping it a meatless Monday) that can simmer all day while you’re at work. Serve it up with a Buttermilk-Blue Cheese Dip and Skillet Cornbread. Our Mexican Brownies will be sure you have a sweet ending regardless of whether or not your team wins the game. If you’re looking for more football inspiration, our Tailgating section has loads of recipes and menus, from guacamole and nachos to the best beers for Sunday-afternoon sipping. What’s your favorite thing to serve during football season? Tell us who you root for, too! (Photo: Sara Bonisteel)
